The problem
The data you need is on the label, not in the barcode
Production and expiry dates, lot numbers, part numbers and descriptions on incoming goods and materials. The fields your records and inventory actually depend on are the ones the barcode does not carry.
Today, that information gets copied onto paper by hand before it reaches goods receipt or inventory.
